You must be personally examined by a doctor who is certified to prescribe medical marijuana and be diagnosed with one of the qualifying conditions. The doctor determines that you have a qualifying condition, and that the potential benefits of taking medical marijuana outweigh the risks. The doctor then registers you in the Medical Marijuana Use Registry so that you can receive a medical Marijuana Card.
It is up to the doctor to approve you, so if you have seen a physician in the past for your condition, it helps to have your medical records for the same-day doctor’s approval. If you prefer our office to request your medical records from your doctor’s office, we have a medical release form you can complete and sign. Follow this link to review the Qualifying Conditions.
You need to be accompanied by a parent, caregiver or legal guardian.
The caregiver will be registered along with the patient in the Medical Marijuana Use Registry and will receive a medical Marijuana Card which must be presented with a photo ID when picking up or signing for a medical marijuana prescription.
A Medical Marijuana Card is a photo ID card issued by the Florida Department of Health. When you go to a medical Marijuana Treatment Center (Dispensary), you must provide a Medical Marijuana Use Registry ID card to obtain medical marijuana, or a marijuana delivery device. The card may also be used to verify that a patient or legal representative is in the Department of Health’s Medical Marijuana Use Registry.
Once your doctor has registered you with the Florida Medical Marijuana Use Registry, you can apply for a medical Marijuana Card. You will receive an email with a link to fill out the application on the Office of Medical Marijuana Use website. Your application will be reviewed and, if approved, a medical Marijuana Card will be sent to you through the mail.
Allow up to 30 days for the review of your application. There is a $75 application fee.
Medical Marijuana Cards expire after one year and must be renewed. The $75 application fee is paid at each renewal.
To avoid delays in filling your medical marijuana orders, apply for the renewal 45 days before your card expires.
After the initial 70-day prescription, you can get two 70-day refills without visiting the doctor’s office. After the 210-day period, you must see the doctor again for additional 70-day prescriptions.
Renewal of a medical marijuana prescription, each 210-day period, costs $147. We also offer a convenient monthly payment plan to help spread out the cost of your renewal.
The Medical Marijuana Use Registry is a secure, online database of ordering physicians and qualified medical marijuana patients. It is maintained by the Florida Department of Health’s Office of Medical Marijuana Use.
It is accessible to ordering physicians, law enforcement, dispensing organization staff, and Office of Medical Marijuana Use staff.

According to the Florida Department of Health: “Possession, use, or administration of marijuana in a form for smoking is not allowed except in a sealed, tamper-proof receptacle for vaping.” The tamper-proof receptacle is referred to as a ‘cartridge’. As of October 2018, this ruling is being challenged in the First District Court of Appeal State of Florida.

THC is the chemical component that gives the ‘high’. The strength can be controlled with your dosage, depending on the condition and the physician’s recommendation and what you are comfortable with. THC is very beneficial to boost other chemical properties in the plant but, it can also be given in a very low dosage that will not affect you psychologically.
Low-THC marijuana is defined as containing 0.8 percent or less of the psychoactive compound tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), and more than 10 percent of cannabidiol (CBD). Low-THC marijuana typically does not produce the euphoria sensation often associated with medical marijuana.
Some medical conditions, like seizures, anxiety, pain, and insomnia, respond best to low-THC, high CBD marijuana. Conditions characterized by chronic pain, depression, fatigue, nausea, wasting, and gastrointestinal disorders respond to high-THC medical marijuana.
When ordering marijuana for a patient, the doctor must specify whether the order is for low-THC marijuana or medical marijuana.
Cannabidiol is a popular natural remedy used for many common ailments. Better known as CBD, it is one of the 104 chemical compounds known as cannabinoids found in the cannabis or marijuana plant.
Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the main psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis and causes the euphoric sensation that’s often associated with marijuana. However, CBD is NOT psychoactive. This quality makes CBD an appealing option for those who are looking for relief from pain and other symptoms without the mind-altering effects of marijuana or certain pharmaceutical drugs.
CBD oil is made by extracting CBD from the cannabis plant, then diluting it with a carrier oil like coconut or hemp seed oil. CBD oil is gaining momentum in the health and wellness world, with some scientific studies confirming it may help treat a variety of ailments like chronic pain and anxiety.
